The best views of Barcelona

The best of a city with hills, next to the Mediterranean and sheltered by the mountains? A range of corners from which to contemplate how the sun rises over the sea, appreciate the changes in light at sunset or enjoy the view over the rooftops of the old town of Barcelona. We present some of the best viewpoints in Barcelona.

THE ROVIRA TURO

Popularly known as “The Carmel bunkers” for having housed a series of anti-aircraft batteries during the war, this old neighborhood that is now part of the Parc dels Tres Turons has always been a popular meeting point for young people after school. The reason? The wonderful 360º view over Barcelona. Accessible by bus 119 – which can be taken next to the Vall d’Hebron metro stop – or by walking up from the Guinardó neighbourhood.

THE MONTJUIC CASTLE

This fortress is located 170 m high on a rocky outcrop that was already used as a watchtower in the Middle Ages to monitor maritime traffic. It can be accessed by cable car from the port, whose views will serve as an aperitif.

THE TIBIDABO

One of the attractions of the Tibidabo amusement park is its location on top of the homonymous mountain, the highest peak of the Serra de Collserola, with 521m. Enough to offer us a spectacular view of Barcelona, the coast and the natural park. You can take advantage of the fact that you have come to ride the attractions or simply go up for the pleasure of the views and then walk down calmly to the Vallvidrera funicular, taking the opportunity to pass by the Norman Foster communications tower.

THE MIRABLAU

A classic among Barcelonans: go up to the Mirablau for a drink, on Avinguda del Tibidabo, and contemplate the city from its windows. Both during the day and at night because it is also a restaurant and disco. www.mirablaubcn.com

THE BARÓ TOWER

Located in the Torre Baró neighbourhood, at the opposite end of the glamor and bustle of tourism, this old castle from 1905 is now an information office for Collserola Park that offers privileged views of the lesser-known and less touristy district of Barcelona.

THE MNAC AND THE ARENAS

The terrace of the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, on Montjuïc, and the circular terrace of the Las Arenas Shopping Center, in the old bullring next to Plaça Espanya, are not far away, but offer totally different perspectives.

THE CAMÍ DE LES AIGUES

The panoramic walk par excellence among Barcelonans on weekends – walking, cycling, running, alone, in a group or with the dog – is this old road converted into a 10 km pedestrian path that runs through Barcelona from north to south at 400 meters high bordering the Serra de Collersola. It can be accessed from various points.
