Barcelona is a musical city with a program of concerts and international festivals that embrace all kinds of musical genres, from the most classic rock or jazz to the most innovative electronic sounds. We present some of the festivals scheduled for 2018. Which one do you prefer?
Electronic music and digital creativity
Sónar, an international benchmark, celebrates its 25th edition in 2018, a quarter of a century taking the pulse of the electronic music scene and digital musical creation. June 14 – 16 Along the same lines, we find MUTEK, the International Festival of Digital Creativity, which has distinguished itself as an international meeting with an original and avant-garde program presenting projects by both emerging and established artists in an environment of discovery, experimentation and exchange. March 7 to 10. The DGTL Barcelona has become another unavoidable event for lovers of national and international electronic music. Parc del Fòrum, August 10 and 11. And the Barcelona Beach Festival will bring together the best electronic and EDM music of the moment on July 14 at the Playa del Fórum and Parc de la Pau in San Adrià de Besòs.
rock and metal
The Rock Fest Barcelona 2018 brings together the best of Spanish and international heavy music and rock, with a line-up that includes Judas Priest, Kiss and Ozzy Orsbourne, among others.

The Knights Of Metal will hold its second edition for two days in May at Poble Espanyol, although the dates and lineup are yet to be confirmed.
The fifth edition of Be Prog My Friend will also bring together metal bands like A Perfect Circle and Katatonia. Poble Espanyol, June 29 and 30.
The Barcelona Psych Fest focuses on rock and psychedelia. April 6-7 in the Upload Room.
Jazz
The Barcelona International Jazz Festival is a world reference in the genre, thanks to the fact that it combines heavyweights with new proposals and also offers free concerts, master classes by leading figures, conferences, meetings with artists and numerous parallel activities.
From mythical names to emerging and alternative groups
Primavera Sound is another of the great consolidated events, with 16 editions to its credit. It has programmed legendary names like the Pixies, Neil Young, Sonic Youth, Radiohead, Pet Shop Boys, Lou Reed, Patti Smith or the Cure, to name a few. Parc del Fòrum, from May 30 to June 3.
Another festival with big names is the Jardins de Pedralbes Festival, which during the months of June and July offers a varied and well-cared programme. Sting or Bob Dylan, among others, have passed through here.
The Guitar Festival BCN celebrates its 29th edition with concerts distributed between February and May in different venues in Barcelona. Jorge Drexler will be in charge of opening the 2018 edition at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
Totally the opposite, the Cara-B Festival is dedicated to non-commercial music and wants to be a showcase for the most alternative and fresh trends and sounds. It is held in the spaces of the old Fabra i Coats factory.
The Crüilla Barcelona Festival presents the best of national and international independent music. Parc del Fórum, July 13 and 14. and the Emergència Festival shows us the independent scene in Barcelona. Month of March at the CCCB.
The AMFest is dedicated to instrumental music, it is held in the Sala Apolo.
Another great classic of the Barcelona music scene is the BAM (Barcelona Acció Musical) which is held every year on stages throughout the city. Free concerts for all types of public are part of the program of the La Mercè festivities, between September 20 and 24.
